They are highly trained

Prosthodontists spend an additional three years of training after graduation from dental school. The time and commitment they put into their craft shows just how dedicated they are to their patients.

Recognized by the ADA

There are nine specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). This means that what they do is officially sanctioned, safe, and approved by the association itself. If you need cosmetic restoration of any kind, make sure you find a certified prosthodontist.

Different than a Dentist

While still graduates of dental school, prosthodontists have taken special training to be able to work with issues regarding replacement teeth and other cosmetic restorations. That means that a prosthodontist is a specialist, and the person to do the job.

Small in Number

As of 2018, there are only 51 postdoctoral training programs in the US and Canada. Each year, approximately 140 students graduate from all the programs combined. It’s certainly not a large graduating class by any means, but you can be sure that those graduates are more than prepared to get started!

 

There’s a lot that goes into being a prosthodontist that many people probably don’t know about. Needless to say, they are an elect breed of medical professional.
